SERVICE INFORMATION

Some of the Head Lamp Illumination Delay / "Auto" Light Settings on an Applied Model can be adjusted using CONSULT-II. A customer may request
these settings to be changed. These adjustments may also be able to address the following customer concerns;

The "Auto" lights appear to come on when it's "too bright" or "too dim" outside the vehicle

^

The "Auto" light shut off delay is "too quick" or "takes too long".

This TSB outlines what functions can be adjusted, and how to adjust them.

Please review all of the following System Information before judging if adjustments are appropriate.

SYSTEM INFORMATION

The design intent of these systems is as follows;

The Illumination Delay Setting controls the length of time it takes for the "Auto" headlights to shut off using the Twilight Sentinel Function.

The "Auto" light setting controls how light or dark it has to be outside the vehicle before the "Auto" headlamps come on.

These functions can be adjusted in CONSULT-II by accessing the BCM function, then selecting the Headlamp menu, then the Work Support menu.

Please see the Chart 1; CONSULT-II BCM FUNCTION for a listing of headlamp functions that can be adjusted using CONSULT-II.

From the headlamp Work Support menu in CONSULT-II, the following adjustments can be made;

The Illumination Delay Setting modes for the Twilight Sentinel Function can be adjusted to shut off the headlamps (and fog lights, if they are on)
from "0" seconds after the last door is shut to up to 180 seconds after the last door is shut, as long as the combination switch (lighting switch)
position is not changed.

NOTE:

If either the drivers' door or any passenger door remains open with the ignition off for 5 minutes, the Twilight Sentinel Function is no longer is active
and the headlight Battery Saver function will then cut power to the headlights (and fog lights, if they are on).

The "Auto" light setting mode can be adjusted to alter how light or dark it has to be outside the vehicle before the "Auto" headlamps come on

NOTE:

The headlamp Battery Saver function cannot be turned off or otherwise changed in CONSULT-II.
